The Bachelorette – Episode Five

Chris Harrison stops by the Outhouse to say Good Morning and to explain what is going to happen this week. After this week, only four will go on Home Town dates, where they get to take DeAnna to met their families, there are no more roses on dates, they will all stay all week, and to pack their bags because DeAnna was taking them all to Palm Springs.

Once there, they get a really nice house, a big step up from the outhouse, and Sean gets the first one-on-one date, there is a group date to follow with Twilley, Jesse, Jason and Graham and then Heremy gets the final one-on-one date.

Sean’s date starts with them riding a tram to the top of a mountain for dinner, they have a great talk at dinner and they are alike in alot of ways and then she invites him back to her place for desert, where he says he thinks she is the missing piece of his life, and then they have a little hammock time, and I am sorry to say that I felt he was more into their time together than she was.  At one point in the date she says if there was a rose on this date that Sean would get it, but that was before the hammock time. I am just not sure about Sean at this point.

Group date was Twilley, Jesse, Jason and Graham. A helicopter arrives, and DeAnna says our ride, although Twilley and I will take this one and you all get the next one, the only problems is that Twilley can’t get the door open, then he gets motion sick, and then can’t get the door open to get out. The get to go Four-wheeling, deAnna was kicking their butts! Twilley was off in his own little world all day, and I have to say that today was not a good one for Twilley, in fact I am thinking that this will be the end of Twilley, and Jesse was trying to show off, falls off the four-wheeler but he wasn’t scared, and DeAnna liked that.

Jeremy got the final one-on-one date and they went to Frank Sinatria’s old house for dinner, and they talked and deAnna said he was everything she thought she was looking for and that she could see herself falling in love with him. I am thinking that this bodes well for Jeremy and that we will see him again next week, but you know I have been know to be wrong.

The guys walk in for the Cocktail party and DeAnna is nowhere to be seen, and we see her in the deliberation room and she says that this week has been good and she knows what she is going to do, and there is no reason to make them all suffer through the cocktail party, so Chris Harrison comes out and tells the guys no cocktail party this week, get ready for the Rose Ceremony, during which DeAnna tells them that she enjoyed the week and it made her decision and she didn’t want them to suffer through the cocktail party thinking they could change her mind, and she is set in not leading anyone on, so she pickes the following to continue, in order:

JEREMY, JASON, GRAHAM AND JESSE

This means that Twilley and Sean are going home and they both took it really well. I think her honestity about the whole thing is really helping them all to know that she is in this for real. Next week is the home town dates and I am so excited about.

The Bachelorette – DeAnna Tells All

Tonight we start the night with a special edition, DeAnna tells all, which is a first, a mid-season look back. Chris asked her if there was anything toughts that she had after watching the shows. Ryan, she never knew he was a virgin, it was not something that came up in the conversations, she only found out when she watched the show. Paul, she was just as embarrased for him watching it as she was that night, and she was embarrased for her dad to watch that one. Robert was great the first night, cooking for her, it caught her attention that he thought outside the box.

Chris asked her about Graham at the Race Car date, and she was still hurting, felt that he was toying with her, but for some strange reason she kept coming back for more from him, and that bothers her.  With Sean, they made a connection at the race car date, they found things they have in common and she got to see another side of him. Jason’s one on one date still brings tears to her eyes, watching it again later. She has never opened up to anyone like that, and she makes it clear that there was alot more detail that she went into with him that night than what we saw, and when Chris asked why, she said she knew she could trust him, he trusted her with Ty, his son, and she was comfortable with him.

Letting go the good guys. When asked about Richard, he was the perfect guy, why didn’t she feel anything for him, but she didn’t. There was a point on the date where Richard smoother her hair away and she knew he wanted to kiss her and all she could think of was I wish I wanted to kiss him back, but she didn’t and she didn’t want to hurt him more by keeping him longer and letting him fall more for her.  Robert was another story, she also knew with him when he leaned in to kiss her that it was wrong, there ws no connection. She said she was surprised watching the show because she had no idea Robert thought there was a connection and she is not sure how he thought there was. Hurting Fred hurt her the most, she knew that there was no connection and she could have takend the cowards way out and let him sty another week, but Fred is too good of a guy and he didn’t deserve that, he was too good of a guy to be lead on, so she had to send him home too.

About the infamous BBQ at the outhouse, it seemed liked a good idea, but the guys were being guys and she felt alone, ignored and that she didn’t matter, and they were suppose to be getting to know her, and she was putting her heart out there to each of them every time and all the time, and they weren’t and it hurt her and she felt heartbroken. It still hurt her to talk about it even after this amount of time since it had passed.

Next we got a look in on Trista and Ryan, the famous Bachelorette Family, and how they are doing, and then Trista gives her feelings about DeAnna, she said she felt connected to DeAnna because they had the “same” experience their first time around and she hopes that DeAnna has the same results as her this time around around. She feels that DeAnna is doing a good job of being true to herself and she applauds her for making the hard decisions. Trisita also said that her favorites right now are Graham and Jason.

Then we get a look in on each guy at home, to learn a little more about his.  Basically Jesse has had alot of injuries and thinks deAnna is a dream girl. Twilley is loud and obnixous, his dad was a pro football player for ten years in Miami, Twilley is not that guy, he started a software company in college, he’s an artist and funny.  Jason is just a regular guy with a passion for family and life, somewhat life DeAnna. Sean pushed himself to have a top school and likes the finer things in life, drives a Hummer and lives one street over from his mama. Graham is not a vocal and he says that they argue more than anyone else, but their conflict will lead to a happy ending and then there is Jeremy, who actually races motorcycles and is holding back but says he is willing to fight for her.

In the end we get DeAnna’s impressions, she is having six different relationships with six different guys. Graham is just hot, and then there is Jason, an amazingly great guy (and I will have you know that she is glowing when sh says this) and she does not want to break his or Ty’s hearts and that this is hard, she has cried more on this show than in the last five years.

The last comment if “I have faith that my husband is here” and she is smiling so big and warmly that I just can’t believe that she didn’t find someone and that they aren’t still together.  Stay tuned for the next episode to follow!

Next Food Network Star – Season 4, Episode 3

Episode Three begins with the chefs arriving at the Food Network Kitchens and meeting up with Bobby Flay, who gives them a Mini-Challenge, to express their individual styles, in 30 minutes and then to present it on camera to the judges, all are given the same ingredient to work with…..potato!

  1. Adam – bacon cheese fries, judges likee, and his presentation is good.
  2. Kelsey – a bacon potato gratin – which is raw, judges no likee, and still ehr performance is too rehearshed and forced, too bubbly.
  3. Jeffery – home fries, they were pretty good but nothing special and there was no connection to the audience or camera, just a well rehersed script
  4. Nipa – som Indian potato something, no I could know understand what she was saying and I didn’t have time to try to write it down when if flashed briefly on the screen, she’s doing a little better.
  5. Aaron – a big hunk of potato wrapped in bacon, which the judges likee, in fact Bobby says it is a great steakhouse potato, he might have to steal and put on his menu. Still not connection with the audience, but getting better.
  6. Shane – potato soup, was okay but had a funny texture. He is doing better with his presentations and they liked.
  7. Jennifer – mashed potato grilled pizza, okay I am not sure what she was thinking, but this is just gross, and the judges no likee. Then in the presentation she was all over the place, better alternative, but it is high carb, I mean it was a mess.
  8. Lisa – potato with smoked trout, it was okay, but she rushed through her presentation and was don in 15 seconds, when she had 1 minute. Big mess up on that.

The Main Challenge is next, and no the chefs are not told how they did in this Mini-challenge, we will get that information in the end. The Main Challenge is to make a food product that can be branded and marketed. The have time today and then tomorrow they will present it to 50 food buyers and a spcial guest.

  1. Adam – Smoke It Rub – it was ok, nothing new
  2. Aaron – Apple Cider Viginette – really liked
  3. Nipa – Peanut Seasoning – too simple
  4. Kelsey – All in One Sauce –
  5. Shane – CHerry Cogac Sauce – liked the product
  6. Lisa – Basil Balsamic Orange Marmalade – good, really
  7. Jeffery – Soul Seasoned Salt – lack luster product
  8. Jennifer – Three Cheese Sauce – taste was good, but she is a little negative

Special Guest – Martha Stewart, okay I know the woman is the queen of product branding, but really, I can’t stand the woman, and no it goes back to before she tried to get away with the insider trading thing, she just came across wrong to me, I know alot of people love her, but I am NOT in that number. Not that you care, but I don’t own a single thing with the Martha Stewart name on it.

JUDGING: Tonight we get three winners:

  1. Mini – Challenge:   ADAM
  2. Product – LISA
  3. Martha’s Favorite – AARON

Well, what do you know. Okay, I can actually handle those winners, although Lisa is not my favorite on the show, in fact I could do without her, all I can think of when I see her is Posh Spice.  Nipa and Kelsey are annoying me more, actually Nipa the most, she just doesn’t seem to care, I mean really, I just do’t know that she really wants this, it is more to prove that she can do it than the cooking, at least to me.

Going home tonight…….JEFFERY

HGTV Next Design Star – Season 3, Episode 2

We re-join our aspiring designers at the lake, after having been tossed the infamous paint can, and being told byClive that Challenge One is to build their own home in seven days. Thay all seem to freak out a little as Clive boats away, but get down to business and start talking plans. Someone, Michael I think it was, brings up that you can get these panalized houses, but Matt informs him that you have to order them in advance, there is no way they can do this, just the nine of them in seven days, after two hours of this, Clive returns with an update on the Challenge……JUST KIDDING! Dang! I really wanted to see them try! Alright, all on the boat to the real house.

The real Challenge one:  design the five unfinished rooms of the house in 31 hours over 3 days with a budget of $15,000 total.   The rooms and teams are:

Bedrooms: One upstairs to be done by Scottie, the one downstairs by Mikey V and Matt.  This is actual kinda one team, with each designing a separet room but with them working together on the labor for both rooms. Now, Scottie did the upsatirs bedroom and when Michael walked in to see it being painted, he claimed it was the exact same color as Sparkle’s room from last year, spray-on tan. Humm, someone is a fan.

Dining Room:  Stephanie and Jennifer.  Okay, the two bubbly blondes are doing the dining room, and they think they have the same styles and then they say they are painting the room black, and I am thinking, hummmmm.  On day two, they have 12 hours, and it looked like they spent the whole time shopping, wonder if they can finish at that rate!

Living Room/Sunroom:  DPaul, Michael, Trish and Tracee. Okay, I don’t get this, there are two rooms and four people, unless they were told to do them together, which I didn’t see, but why Michael and Trish didn’t do one room and DPaul and Tracee the other I have no idea, it might have worked out better.  This team fights alot! Michael and Trish seem to be on the same design page, and poor DPaul seemed to spend most of the challenge as the go between for Michael/Trish and Tracee.

Let me just give you a brief insight, or at least my insight into two of the deisgners that drove me nuts last night. Stephanie, okay yeah, so she is cute and bubbly and has great boobs, but what is that worth. Yes, I know she managed to use those boobs to get a couple discounts, and mind you she and Jenn seemed pretty proud of that fact too, but she just dosen’t come across as a designer to me. Then there was the crying, good grief! They didn’t finish their room, and she cried, there was fighting amongst the others and she cried, it was just these big tears all the time, and I have had enough already and it was only the first real episode. Then there was Tracee, what to say, well she comes across as very straight-laced, uptight almost and proper, or at least that is what she thinks she is and she have her opinion, the problem is that she thinks her opinon is fact so much so that she even told Vern in judging that she disagreed with him! What are you thinking? Okay, she annoyed me too! Those are my least favorite two at this point.

Judging:

Living Room: So they judged this as a seperate room from the sunroon, so why the big team with two rooms instead of two smaller teams? Still don’t get it. It had blue-grey walls, white trim and sofa and blue chair. Vern loved the color choice, point one to Michael, thought there should have been more pattern….at this point Tracee becomes public enemy number one by throwing her whole team under the bus saying that she wanted more pattern, but no one listened, at which point Trish and Michael call her out for lying, Tracee it seems, that if she didn’t agree with something, although she compromised and let the team vote rule, she was going to say to the judges that she voted the other way, although if they liked what she didn’t want she kept her mouth shut.

Sunroom: Okay, isn’t this supoose to be a fun room, the pool table was great, but the chocolate room. Tracee wanted chocolate, and after agreeing everyone had second thoughts, but as Tracee was heading for a melt down, DPaul intervened and said we agreed in the begining, lets just go with it. Good job DPaul, although the color was a bad choice. Even Vern said it was dark, of course Tracee didn’t agree and told him so, to the shock of a number of people!

Bedrooms: Upstairs: Well, this was Scottie’s room, rust walls and a rust and brown bedding, and you know what, the judges didn’t like it, called it one of the worst in the history of the show, but I liked it. I thought it looked good and was a good space plan, I mean four beds in a small room, what more can you do.

Bedrooms: Downstairs: This was Matt and MikeyV, and they made a hugh platform bed in the middle of the room, which was actually all four beds there was a big cross-shape in the middle that served as headboards and divider sides, this meant that each bed still had it’s own space. The colors were blue and chocolate, point one and two to Matt.

Dining Room: Jennifer and Stephanie, they painted the room black, then painted this amazing wood table white and a white mantel to look like wood. I think they would have been better served leaving the mantel white and the table wood pure, it would be a much bigger contrast in that room. They didn’t quite finish, there was still painter’s tape around the top of the room, so this is a “failure” in the judges book. Time management is a big deal in this one, and if you can’t manage your time you will be out.

During the delibrations, the designers are in the green room, and MikeyV is explaining, in a really nice tone to Tracee that you know, tomorrow we might have another team challenge, and he would NOT work with her because of her performance in front of the judges tonight. Of course Stephanie is crying, she wants this to be like sorority and they all get along and have lots of fun, and Tracee leaves the room to cry. I sorta feel bad for her, but them again she brought it all on herself.

JUDGES RESULTS:

Trish, Matt and Michael – you were amoung the best tonight, you are safe until next week.

DPaul and MikeyV – you were the muscle this challenge, we want to see more design from you both next challenge, but you are safe until next week.

Scottie – your room was less than impressive, but we loved that you stood up for your design.

Stephaine – time management is a big part of the show, and if you can’t handle it you will be gone.

Tracee – you were outspoken at judging, you need to be that way in the desgin process

Jennifer – your passionate for desgin, we just need to see that come through more.

Scottie your show has been cancelled.  Dang, I liked him. I really did! I wish they would have sent crying Stephanie or Tracee home instead. Oh well, on to next week!
