The Bachelorette – Episode 4

So we begin with Chris Harrison telling Jason, Robert and Fred that they get to move into the big house with DeAnna this week, then he explains that there will be a group date, a one-on-one date and a two-on-one date, with a rose up for grabs on the two-on-one date with the other guy going home immediately. Now, since the one-on-one is were you want to be, they are going to “fight” for it. Each guy gets twenty minutes to right a song for deAnna, which they will perform, and the winner gets the date.

So, they all write “cute” little ditties and in the end DeAnna decides that Jesse is the winner, because he got down on his knee and held her hand throughout his song. He gets the date and they go to a private concert with Natsha Beningfield (who? I have never heard of her…..I must be living in kiddie land because everyone else on the show seems to know who she is) and during their talks DeAnna asks Jesse questions about being there and if he ever cheated, to which to responds, never and I about choked on my diet pepsi. Okay, so the rumors going around the internet are that Jesse has a sponsorship deal that he gets paid everytime he is shown on tv wearing specfic items (sunglasses and the t-shirt with a certain brand name on it) and that he was still with his girlfriend when he left for the show and that at some point in the show he text messages her to break up. Like I said, those are just the rumors that are flying about, don’t know if they are true or not, but he defintely acted like they weren’t that night.

For the group date, the guys go to the Richard Petty Experience, yep they let that name though once on the side of the car. The deal is that the guy who goes the fastest wins the first one-on-one time during the date with DeAnna, and guess what Sean wins with a top speed of 141.11mph, at this time he talks to DeAnna and he does admit that he is starting to fall for her and that he fears not gettign to spend time with her, and then he starts in with something about them both having a bluegrass and a redneck connection, humm, grasping at straws a little there buddy?  They go back and show DeAnna taking to the car, and as she pulls out of the starting line, Sean is shown saying, he was in love when she burned rubber on the starting line, none of the guys even did that! DeAnna clocks in at 141.62mph, and the guy leading the exercise says the guys should all just go on home now, they let her beat them!

Some of the great things about this episode is that we got to see alot more of the interaction between the guys. Jason admits that he watches the body language of people, and he notices that DeAnna and Graham are exploring a connection, of course DeAnna is still having trouble with Graham, feeling like he is holding back, and in fact there is a little bit of a tift that occurs, Graham throwing a tantrum about not wanting to be the second to kiss her, to which she says you wouldn’t be and they walk back! Good job on making her doubt you Graham.

So the next day, the guys are bored and decide to have a party at the Outhouse and invite DeAnna and the guys from the big house down, good intentions, they want to have more time with her and get to know her more, but it backfires big time! They made a place tag and put Bobbie on it instead of Robert, and he throws a little hissy fit and sulks off by himself. Sean and Brian end up playing together and DeAnna feels left out, like it’s a boys party. Graham is still ignoring her after the tift yesterday, and I am thinking I don’t care how good looking the boy is, send his little butt home for acting like that! Finally DeAnna goes inside and talks to Robert, to which he apologizes a little but says that he is nervous about tonights date and that he has been told she already has her final three picked, to which she gets upset. She ends up going outside and yelling at the guys about their commitmment to this, that she is putting her heart out there and they aren’t and that she does understand, she has been in thier shoes, she knows what they are going through, really. In the end she goes home to get ready for her date and leaves them boys.  You know, we actually get to seem them all talking and feeling bad about it and they are actually sorry that they messed up. I loved seeing the guys talk to each other tonight and what they were thinking about the whole thing, it put so much more prespetive on it.

So the dreaded Two-on-One Date arrives, and Fred and Robert are invited out to a penthouse suite to make dinner and talk. You can tell from the get go that things are reallt strained and tense. DeAnna moves through it pretty quick. They are sitting, after eating and she starts the talk about the rose, and she looks at Robert and says I can not give this rose to you can I walk you out. She tells him there is no connection, no chemistry and she isn’t about to lead him on. In the limo, we actually see Robert cry and say that it will be along time before he lets anyone in again, and I am thinking, I never saw you let her in to begin with so I am not sure about you.  DeAnna goes back upsatirs to talk to Fred, whom everyone would assume is getting the rose, but surprise, surprise DeAnna doesn’t give him the rose either. She tells him that he is a great guy, too good for all of this and she will not lead him on, she was lead on and she refuses to so that, she thinks Fred is a wonderful guy but she isn’t falling for him and doesn’t see him being anything more than a good friend. Fred is all class, and he says that all he wants is for her to be happy, he is hurt but at the same time, he says you can’t force someone to love you, so it is better this way.

Back at the Outhouse the guys are all guessing that Robert will go home, when the driver comes in and picks up Roberts suitcase and they are all saying they knew it, when the driver comes back in and gets Freds, and they are all shocked! They are like, what, we never thought that she would let them both go! The look of shock on a couple of faces is priceless.

Back at the big house, when DeAnna comes home, Jason is there and tells her he is there for her if she wants to talk, which she ends up doing. They curl up on the porch and watch the stars and she tells him how hard this as, but that she refuses to lead someone on.

So it is Rose Ceremony night, and Jason stops at DeAnna’s room and walks her down to the cocktail party, and we hear her saying how nice that was, and that no one has ever walked her down to the Rose Ceremony before, and I bet there are a number of guys kicking themselves right now for not thinking of that when they were living in the big house.  Jesse and Sean are both safe, having received roses on their earlier dates, and so we see her talk to Twilley, Brian and Graham. Graham apologizes for the  way he has been acting and we actually see her talk to Brian, which is a first, but is it too late? They both agree that marriage is a one time thing for them. At this point, DeAnna tells them it has been a rough week, so lets change into swimsuits and relax! It was fun, playing ball in the poll and all until Chris Harrison walks out. They all have to change back into their suits for the ceremony.

In the end, Brian is going home, and Brian admits that he never got time alone with her, or dates and so he bonded with the guys and she probably questioned his commitment because of that bond, but that he really was there for her.  We are down to the final six guys:  Jason, Jesse, Jeremy, Twilley, Sean and Graham.

Next Food Network Star – Season 4, Episode 2

The second episode of Season 4 begins with Robert Irvine, chef of Dinner Impossible waking the contestants at 3am, of course this means that this must have been filmed before Food Network found out about his forged resume and fired his butt, but that is another blog.  They pull colors and are teamed into teams of three, who will go on a food hunt, once at the location they will answer a food question, if they get it right they get an ingredient, if they get it wrong, they have to perform a food task. Humm, this might actually be good.  Once they make it through the food hunt, at the last stop, they find out that they will be making brunch for 30 people, plus the panel, on a train and will have to introduce their menu to the diners, oh and one last thing, all three indgredients that they picked up before must be featured in the menu.

Gray Team, this is Aaron, Adam and Jenn; they tended to run in the middle of the pack on this challenge, they got to the first location second, but got the question right, and they got their second question right, and on the third they had to perform a task, but still got to the trains first.  Their menu would be French Toast, Sunny Side up eggs and Steak.  Adam made the eggs, which were still raw, although Aaron told him more times than I want to count that they didn’t have time to fry eggs, Jenn made the bland french toast and Aaron made stask, which was called AWESOME.  For their presentation, Adam said they should do this “train robber” thing, where Aaron held back and came in at the last minute, Aaron didn’t want to being black and from NJ, but in the end they ended up doing a version of it, where Adam and Jenn cam out and said their thing and then Aaron burst out and introduced his awesome steak. At judging, the panel said they liked the presentation, and kudos to Aaron because he gave Adam credit for the idea, no backstabbing here.

Blue Team: This was Nipa, Shane and Lisa; you know I knew this team would bethe last ones out of the house, but I figured it would be Lisa getting all dolled up that put them behind, but it turned out to be Nipa. They got the first question right, the second right and the third wrong, but even after performing their task they still made it to the trains second. Their menu was more french toast, lamb kabob and a blue cheese and fig salad.  Shane did the salad and it was ok, a little over dressed and not original, but good. Nipa did the lamb kabob that was way too spicy for a brunch, and Lisa did a french toast that was wonderful. At judging, the panel mentioned that the plate looked disjointed and that Shane was way too fast (nervous) during his presentation and that Nipa didn’t seem engaged in the whole process, at which point she WALKED OUT of the judging!!

Green Team:  This was Kelsey, Kevin and Jeffery and they made it out of the house first, only to miss the first question and have to do a task and watch the other two teams race in front of them while they were doing it. They ended up making the train last, so they served last. Their menu was duck salad, bread pudding ( thank heavens it wasn’t another french toast) and a crustine with mozzeralla, fig and honey.  The judges felt the crustine was way too sweet, the bread pudding was tough and the duck was overcooked. They also felt there was a plating issue, which they didn’t hear about but Kevin put out 20 plates and told everyone it was 30 and they started plating only to realize that it wasn’t 30 and they they had to tear apart plates to make the 30. Also, the judges really questioned the “romantic cooking” theme that Kevin is trying to sell, they just don’t see it.

Okay in the end we find out that the winners will be featured in USA Today Weekend Magazine in the papers, and you know I am thinking that no team did well enough to win, when the judges announce that the winners are Aaaron and Lisa! What, here I was thinking it was a team win thing, and it was individuals! WOW! Anyway, I was surprised at Lisa but really glad about Aaron.

As to Nipa walking, she did come back in a apologize to the panel and the others, saying it was her anger, but I didn’t really see anger in her, in the end it came down to Nipa and Kevin and they let Kevin go, but they told Nipa she was on warning from the judges, because if a star had done what she did that would have been their last show.

Can’t wait for next week!!
